I am a geek.

I like technology.

No, let me rephrase.

I CRAVE technology.

When Mel B was given an iPod Touch recently as a surprise gift by her husband, I wanted to weep with joy for her. (It also made me glower with repressed anger at my husband for be so thoughtless as to *not* surprise me with one, but I digress…).

So yeah, I’m all about the gadgets baby.

BUT!

I am *also* all about the Earth.

Mother Nature.

Gaia.

Which is why I’m interested in Worm Farms, and Worm Farming in general.

If we weren’t stuck in this perpetual – we’re emigrating – so we’re not buying anything big right now – because we’re leaving – but we’re not leaving yet – endless cycle, then I would definitely have already pressured my husband into buying bought one.

I was talking to one of my husbands colleagues the other night at the rugby about worm farms, and they just sound so fascinating. Place tray with 500 red wrigglers at the bottom, place two trays above loaded with all your stuff to compost, kitchen scraps and so forth, and away they go.

The worms in the worm farm, eat their way to the top – and then all you have to do is move that tray to the bottom of the worm farm, and the other two up. It’s a perfect symphony, and apparently one worm farm produces more than enough compost for an average to large sized garden.

I even laughed when she talked about how the little guys went ballistic for banana skins, and even tea bags. She also said she was on a mission to name each and every worm. But I think she was joking. Because that would be taking worm farming a step too far.

Or at least I hope she was joking.

So anyhoo, in a bid to be helpful, and help mother earth, and all of you out there looking to buy a worm farm – if you live around these parts then you can buy them here, here, here and here.

Now because I’m blessed to have a global audience, I’m not going to leave out my civilised friends from over the seas, and YES, you TOO shall have your worm farms.

North America, get your worm farms here!
England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland get yours here…WORM FARMS – supplied with voucher for worms & bedding
