Getting an MBA Online

My husband is considering getting his MBA, and since I am the resident ‘net-expert’ he asked me for my opinion on getting an online MBA.

My honest opinion is that these days getting an degree from an online university is as good as one obtained from full time study in person.

In this day and age, utilizing technology as the medium of learning is a perfectly acceptable alternative, and in many cases can be better suited to our busy lifestyles. I do not think that taking 2 years or more out from working in a corporate environment in order to do a degree, when you have a family is a probable, let alone even possible alternative.

I was particularly interested to hear about Western Governors University offerings. They have a large range of degrees, including an online MBA option, and what interests me about them is that they were founded in 1997 by 19 US Governors in order to expand access to quality higher education to working adults in particular.

WGU is accredited by the Northwest Commission of Colleges and by the DETC (Distance Education and Training Council), and their website is definitely worth a look if you are also interested, as I am in obtaining a degree.
