Sleep Where Art Thou

Sleeping Cat

I think I should be a cat for just one day.

A cat with a nice home, dog free (unless there is a small one that can be blatted, and insulted with a hiss for cat entertainment purposes), with sunny patches, cozy beds and sunny patches.

Just 24 hours of pure unadulterated sleep.

You see I’m not the kind of person who takes sleeping pills easily. Tempted though I may be, I worry that I won’t wake up if one of the kids needs me. Or perhaps that is…hmmm…plots evil plan. I could totally take one, and then tell the hubby that *he* is on night duty for one night…

Energy Levels

On March 10, 2010, in Health & Beauty, by ness

An old gal friend told me (her kids are 10 and 7 already – I can hardly believe it), that when she had kids, she used to feel so tired, then she’d laugh and tell me, “But you just get used to it, you just get used to feeling tired all the time.”

Boy, was she ever right?!

We just seem to cope with less and less sleep! Or we get accustomed to just feeling tired, and frankly looking like sheet.

Those aren’t permanent wrinkles around my eyes, no sirree, those are tiredness wrinkles. Therefor only temporary. *snort*

The bizarre thing is that sometimes I get so tired, but my brain is so busy that I *still* lie awake at night. Contemplating the merits of the over the counter sleeping pill sitting in the cupboard. Then I worry that if I *do* take it that I won’t be awake enough to deal with any potential kiddy alerts that might arise.

The last time I took one, I was in hospital after having my youngest, and was having complications around my intestine being all twisted (not due to the caesar) and I was in so much pain that they offered me the pill and I swear I would have taken three if they’d offered!

I’m generally not a pill popper, but on rare occasions, I have been so utterly grateful for a little help from my chemical friends, that I think used with moderation, caution and medical advice they are a good thing.

Yay for medical technology!
